Huge apologies to anyone having difficulty accessing our site at the moment. We have just installed a certificate to our site that involved changing the location that friendlybaby.co.uk is hosted and it seems that our site has vanished from existence for a short time (well, possibly for up to 24 hours). The certificate provides additional security for when you shop with us (better security than a lot of very large shopping sites have!), so we hope you agree will be worth it in the end.

New Cleaner Greener Servers

We apologise for any problems that customers may experience with friendlybaby.co.uk today as we move servers. If you have sent us an email and have not received a response within 24 hours please re-send your enquiry as it is probable it has disappeared into the black hole in the internet.

Why are we switching servers?

One of America's top green hosting companies, Rochen, has just launched in the UK, and we want to do the best for the environment in every way. So, what makes Rochen so special?

• Carbon offsetting - Rochen have purchased carbon credits to offset the emissions of their hosting operations. The money spent on carbon credits is used to invest in renewable energy sources as well as on reforestation projects.


• Reduced energy consumption - Rochen have invested in more power efficient computer processors to reduce their power consumption drastically.


• Data centre cooling improvements - It is a little known fact in hosting that for every amp of power used to run a server in a data center it takes on average another amp of power to run the climate control systems that cool it. Rochen has some innovative ways to help improve the cooling system including using fillers where there shouldn't be spaces in the server cabinet slots to force the cool air to go where it is most needed, and raised flooring with perforated tiles.


• Recycling and reducing wastefulness - Where possible all of the packaging Rochen receives with new servers, switches and other items in is fully recycled. Main suppliers to Rochen are also working to reduce the amount of packaging their servers require as well. Rochen works to reduce wastefulness by keeping printing to a minimum and requesting all invoices electronically from their vendors as well as issuing invoices electronically to their own clients.
