Save 20% on ALL Baby Feeding for one week only!
This year the government in their wisdom have decided not to fund National Breastfeeding Awareness Week. It must save them a few pence since they never really funded it properly anyway, but we think this is such a travesty that we have decided to go ahead and promote the week anyway!
Why is National Breastfeeding Awareness Week so important? It is universally acknowledged that breastfeeding provides babies with the best start in life, but this message isn't necessarily passed to all mothers, especially those who can least afford the expense of formula feeding. We recognise that some mothers may not be medically capable of breastfeeding and we also recognise that a high percentage of mums do not get the support that they deserve and need to establish successful breastfeeding in the first place. We do not want to make these ladies feel that they are doing anything wrong by formula feeding.
National Breastfeeding Awareness Week is supposed to not only get the message that breast is best to those who don't already know this, but it is also supposed to help mums learn that if they choose to breastfeed they can and should ask for support from midwives (in the hospital or community), health visitors, breastfeeding councillors etc as well as from friends and relatives who have experience at breastfeeding successfully. It is a skill that needs to be learned; not many women and babies are naturally skilled at this important task.
So, in honour of the National Breastfeeding Awareness Week that no longer is, we are still running special offers across our entire feeding range during the week.
